Counter Culture on Mill [Jul. 19th, 2009|06:15 pm]
Mesa Community College

sol_amoun
There is a very real possibility that Counter Culture will be reopening in the near future. This time on Mill Avenue in a 6100 square feet location with a full kitchen. We will also be a full venue with a real stage and sound system, a bar and a retail location specializing in locally produced art music and fashion. It's time for us freaks to take back Mill! Think positive thoughts, help us generate some buzz and spread the good word!

ps: We have an amazing opportunity here and are currently negotiating free rent for our first year, but we need help: partners, sponsors and investors. Even small amounts of capital will help, and while there is no such thing as a risk-free investment, free rent for a year, complete commercial kitchen, in between a large parking garage and the MADCAP Theaters, at the base of two (currently under construction) condo towers and walking distance from the nation's largest public research university (asu) makes this a no-brainer! please spread the word and contact andres.yuhnke@gmail.com with any interest. thanks!

TONIGHT! [Mar. 19th, 2009|11:17 am]

The Mesa Slam is back in full-effect! TONIGHT at 8PM!

We're at our new venue: Queen's Pizza (Read the review in this week's New Times!. It's located at 125 W. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85201. There's ample street parking, or take the light rail/bus.

It's free to get in and only $1.00 to slam.

This week we have a feature!

Christian Drake is the 2008 Berkeley Grand Slam Champion and a four-time National Poetry Slam semifinalist. He has been selected twice to feature on the National Poetry Slam finals stage, and his work has been covered around the United States and Europe by such luminaries as Andrea Gibson and Gayle Danley. A former urban forester, planetarium guide, and aquarium naturalist, he's the world's only "eco-billy" poet: a little bit environmentalism, a little bit rock and roll. Christian is well-known on the West Coast as the co-host of the venerable Berkeley Slam and the infamous Tourette's Without Regrets show, where he mixes blood & guts humor and political battle cries with contemplative, spiritual imagery. This is nature poetry filtered through a guitar amp.

See you there!
